Ingredients
4 cups water
2 (14 oz.) cans coconut milk
6 tea bags (you can use any tea you like, but I used some regular Lipton tea - I think that green tea would be really good with this)
8 thin slices fresh ginger root
4 large cinnamon sticks
8 whole cloves
2 cardamom pods (these are really expensive so I suggest looking in the bulk section at Central Market and just buying as much as you need rather than buying a whole container of it)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup brown sugar (I forgot to add sugar so I haven't actually tried it with the brown sugar yet. You can just add sugar at the end if you'd prefer)
Instructions
Combine everything in a crock pot. I put the loose spices (other than the cinnamon sticks) into a little tea ball so that it would be easier to remove later on.
Cook on high for 2 hours. Serve hot or chill in the fridge for a couple of hours and serve over ice. Top with a little bit of nutmeg and/or some whipped cream.
